This client had seen some good SEO results a few years before working with us; but the momentum they saw did not last. Eventually, they started to regress. When we came into the picture, we had to help the client get back to where they were. Luckily for us, the client wanted us to design a new website for them. So this meant that we could work from a position of strength because we were able to lay a strong foundation for our SEO for architecture firm strategies.

The project started with us designing a new website. As we were in this stage, we were able to plan ahead and establish a framework for future SEO success. Step 1: Design New Website


As we have mentioned plenty of times in past case studies, we always like to start SEO projects with a new website design.

After we finished with the website, we able to really jump into our SEO strategies and tactics. Any good SEO plan starts with establishing the keywords that you will be targeting. Our team sat together and brainstormed a list of 10 – 12 primary keywords.

We also thought about secondary and tertiary keywords that would be worthwhile to target. As we worked through this stage of the project, these are the things we were doing: 

  • Worked closely with the client to get their input on keywords
  • Looked into the keywords that competitors were targeting 
  • Checked the search volume for the keywords
  • Brainstormed different variations of keywords that could be relevant to the client’s services
  • Looked into cities that could pair with important keywords

Step 3: Planning The Content


We had our primary, secondary and tertiary keywords in hand, so at that point, we were able to start planning content based on our keywords. At this point of the project, we started thinking about the type of content we should work on and what content we should prioritize.

We obviously had plenty of ideas, but it was important to hone in on the content that we deemed most relevant at the stat of this SEO for architecture firm project. These are the things we did for content:

  • Made a list of topics for the blog and digital PR articles
  • Wrote articles for the blog
  • Wrote guest article and sponsored content
  • Wrote content for service area pages
  • Wrote content for each page on the website
  • Created content for various landing pages for our keywords

Step 4: Our On-Page SEO Work


We were able to establish strong on-page SEO practices as we built the website. That being said, there is always room for improvement as Google makes algorithm changes. So we constantly made updates to the website after we launched the new website. These ar the things we did during the website design phase and after the website design phase:

  • Established proper header tags (H1s, H2s, H3s, etc.)
  • Incorporated the right keywords on the right pages
  • Ensured keywords were used in the first 200 words of relevant pages
  • Interlinked pages across the site
  • Optimized file sizes for images
  • Wrote proper alt text for images
  • Wrote quality meta titles and descriptions for all pages
  • Set up structured data on the website
  • Disavowed any and all spammy links

Step 5: Our Off-Page SEO Work


After the new website went live, we were then able to focus on off-page SEO work to help improve the website’s domain authority. 

There were plenty of opportunities available to us, and the client was very open to pursuing these opportunities. These are the tactics we executed for the client:

  • Tiered link building (only using white hat tactics)
  • Picked up quality backlinks from authority sites 
  • Published guest articles on blogs
  • Published content on other websites
  • Posted content to the company’s social media channels
  • Maintained and updated the company’s Google My Business
  • Created citations for the site on various business listing websites

Our Results For This Client

Although we are still pretty early in our relationship with this client, we started to see positive results within the first year of us starting this SEO for architecture firm project.
